12/31/08 - New Years Eve in Vietnam

A rubber tree farm we passed on the way out of Saigon - we were heading to see the ChuChi tunnels.

An example of a trap door for getting down into the tunnels during the war. The soldier actually demonstrated fitting down inside that tiny whole and once we closed the door you couldn't tell anything was there at all.

Me on top of a US tank that was destroyed by a landmine during the war

In the tunnels

Coming up from underground

After the tunnels we went to a place where handicapped people make these incredible works of art, hand-laying mother of pearl, egg-shell, etc.

Back in the city, eating Pho at the same restaurant where President Bill Clinton ate while in office

Cathedral modeled after Notre Dame

The reunification palace

The European-inspired post office

A US tank at the Vietnam War Museum

Later, ready to go out for New Years Eve
