The pics of my trip are up, I did one post for each day so to see them in order, scroll down to Day 1 and start from there. Now that I'm back it's time for Winter Intensive classes so all this month I get to go into work 2 hours earlier every day and teach an extra conversation class. Other than the extra time required, it's really quite fun, my intensive class has 4 students, 2 girls and 2 boys, all highly energetic and borderline ADHD :). Getting them to pay attention takes about 3/4 of the class time.
Meanwhile, life is good, I've been spending lots of time with friends and trying to think about plans for this year. Plans are to head to a Korean hockey game this weekend so I'll be sure to post about that... bet you didn't know Korea had ice hockey! I didnt...

1/1/09 - last day of the trip
12/31/08 - New Years Eve in Vietnam
A rubber tree farm we passed on the way out of Saigon - we were heading to see the ChuChi tunnels.
An example of a trap door for getting down into the tunnels during the war. The soldier actually demonstrated fitting down inside that tiny whole and once we closed the door you couldn't tell anything was there at all.
Me on top of a US tank that was destroyed by a landmine during the war
Coming up from underground
After the tunnels we went to a place where handicapped people make these incredible works of art, hand-laying mother of pearl, egg-shell, etc.
Back in the city, eating Pho at the same restaurant where President Bill Clinton ate while in office
Cathedral modeled after Notre Dame
The reunification palace
The European-inspired post office
A US tank at the Vietnam War Museum
Later, ready to go out for New Years Eve
11/30/08 Cambodia IV and Vietnam I
12/29/08 Cambodia III
About to experience one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World
Fruit market -where we bought 2 mangoes
Pineapple Fried Rice
Eating those mangoes we bought earlier
Enjoying the same cocktail that Angelina Jolie drank when she visited this bar a few years ago
Might have needed one more drink for this...here I am eating kangaroo, ostrich, crocodile, and snake. Snake was absolutely disgusting. The others were alright.
After dinner at a really popular bar, cleverly called "Angkor What?"
